Overview
We’re looking for a focused and skilled Dozer Operator to support our growing fleet of earthmoving professionals. At Koelker Excavating, you’ll operate dozers for both rough and finish grading, assist in site balancing, and push material to grade for pads, roads, and utility work. Our ideal candidate is confident in their blade, reads plans easily, and enjoys turning raw land into clean grades — safely and efficiently.
We operate on commercial and industrial projects throughout Iowa, and value operators who can take initiative and get the job done right with minimal rework.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 2 years of experience operating dozers (Caterpillar preferred)
- Comfortable working with GPS blade control systems (Trimble or equivalent)
- Able to cut slopes, build pads, and maintain grade independently
- Solid understanding of soil types and compaction needs
- Strong safety record and ability to work in active site environments
- Valid driver’s license required
- Must be dependable and punctual
- CDL not required but a plus
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Execute earthmoving operations per site plans and foreman instruction
- Perform cut/fill operations, slope work, backfilling, and final grading
- Monitor grade using laser, GPS, or visual methods
- Conduct daily machine walkarounds and basic maintenance
- Communicate effectively with other operators and laborers on site
- Adjust to changing site conditions while maintaining productivity
- Follow company safety policies and report hazards
