Overview
Koelker Excavating is hiring an experienced and safety-focused CDL Driver to transport equipment, materials, and aggregates to and from commercial construction job sites across Iowa. This is a vital role in keeping our operations moving and our crews productive.
We’re looking for a dependable driver with a Class A or B CDL who is familiar with local/regional hauling and can safely operate trucks and trailers in dynamic construction environments.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
- Clean driving record with a strong commitment to safety
- Experience hauling equipment, dirt, rock, or construction materials
- Ability to strap, chain, and secure loads per DOT standards
- Familiarity with dump trucks, lowboys, flatbeds, and tag trailers
- Able to complete daily vehicle inspections and log reports
- Must be reliable, punctual, and professional in appearance and attitude
- Ability to assist with loading/unloading or light labor when needed
- Knowledge of local DOT and FMCSA regulations
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Safely operate CDL trucks to haul materials, equipment, or supplies to job sites
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicle and equipment
- Communicate with dispatch, foremen, and shop to coordinate deliveries
- Maintain accurate driving logs and trip sheets as required
- Assist with loading/unloading as needed (may include operating a skid steer or other equipment)
- Keep truck clean and report any maintenance needs immediately
- Follow all traffic laws, company policies, and safety protocols
- Represent the company positively on the road and with clients or subcontractors
